Uranus goes Retrograde!!!!

Merry meet and welcome, beautiful souls!!!!

It's time for another retrograde and this time, it's Uranus that is going to give us the opportunity to look within for a few months. Uranus goes retrograde every year for about five months and this one coincides with the start of the new academic year because it starts on 1st September. The peak energy of this time will decrease from 30th January 2025 as well.

Uranus is known as the "Awakener", the planet of sudden and unexpected change. This is because Uranus wants us to transcend our limits, to move beyond the boundaries of established thought and open the way by cracking through resistance. Uranus is asking us to look within and see where our souls need to break free from restriction so that we can evolve as individuals and as a collective. Uranus is all about being independent creative free-thinkers, outside of what is considered usual or "normal".

The sign that Uranus will be moving through is Taurus, which brings an energy of maintaining the same levels as before. These next five months are likely to be rather challenging because Taurus is quite literally the opposite kind of energy to Uranus. Taurus wants a status quo with accepted and reliable routines. But there's an element of Taurus needing comfort and beauty around because of its high sensuality.

During this time, we could easily find ourselves becoming very possessive of how things used to be, clinging onto the past because we know it and trying to push away change. Or we could just as easily be the opposite: pushing anyone and anything out of our way to ensure that change happens whether the world likes it or not, rather like the “bull in a china shop” idiom.

Don't worry if there is more talk of revolutions over the next five months as this is all part of Uranus' influence. Our personal comfort is likely to be quite a large part of this time so there might be talks of strikes for better wages so we can live more comfortably rather than struggle and scrape to get by and provide for ourselves. Those who don't worry about this won't want anything to change but those who are affected by the disparity between income and expenditure will be all for it.

It sounds like this will be rather a deep, challenging and meaningful time for everyone so I created a spread for this particular Uranus Retrograde in Taurus and the deck I used is the Forest of Enchantment tarot deck by Lunaea Weatherstone.

How have we become too comfortable in our lives?

Nine of Visions

With this card, the message is that we're too used to wishing for things. "Manifest" has become such an over-used buzzword that it seems to have lost its power. Therefore we have given the power over to others and just hope (and wish) that what we desire will happen anyway.

We all want to manifest the life we desire but at the same time, we may not necessarily be willing to put in the hardwork, time and effort that manifesting truly takes. So we're left constantly wishing for change but not actually doing anything to ensure that it is a part of our lives.

Tossing a coin in a wishing-well, making a wish when blowing out birthday candles, or blowing a white dandelion won't bring us what we want so therefore we have to embrace change.

What is stopping us from stepping outside this comfort zone?

Six of Visions

With this card, it seems that we are blind to the fact that things need to change because we like where we are currently. We're oblivious to how our individual experiences are not the same and that something does need to change.

This card also seems to be implying that we aren't as connected to reality as we think we are - surrounded by fairies, animals going boating, and birds reading their own books. We know life isn't as great as we want to believe it is so we are constantly trying to escape reality, even if we know this isn't the long-term solution we want it to be.

We are in denial about what reality and real life is telling us to the point that we are adrift in a make-believe world of our own making.

How can we stop these blockages from coming back?

Five of Visions

This card is showing that we are so focused on running after a dream, something that may not in fact be real, that we are blind to what is real. The obvious solution is to stop the denial, stop living in dream-land, and see our situation (individual and collective) for what it truly is.

By chasing this dream, we are also blind to our problems because we are running away from them (even though we're running to a different set of problems). We are unwilling to solve the problems we're faced with so we put them off or push them onto others. These problems may not be the business of others but still we shift responsibility for them.

So that's what we should be doing: taking responsibility and finding solutions.

What do we need to let go of to make the most of this retrograde?

Five of Spells

This card is saying that we need to let go of our desire to be the absolute best, to have the absolute best. We shouldn't be in competition with anyone at all but society has now taught us that we are measured by how well we compete with others.

It's like this: "If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." We aren't all meant to be the same, have the same skills, and live the same lives as everyone else. We are individual for a reason because we each have our own part to play but we can't play those parts if we're in constant competition with the world.

We have to let go of this "need" to be better than everyone else because we are all supposed to be equal with different skills that we can do.

After releasing, what freedoms will be opened to us?

Four of Challenges

With this card, we are being told that we will the freedom to truly find inner peace, not just some semblance of peace but the kind where nothing will disturb it.

We will also have the opportunity to create our sanctuary around us - how it looks, how it feels, every last little detail.

Together these freedoms of sanctuary and inner peace will offer us protection so that nothing can destroy what we've created around us and nothing will stop us from making the most of it.

We will also be given the freedom to grow however we want, and not just in the ways that others want or expect us to.

We will truly be able to bask in the joy of being an individual following our own path and achieving our own dreams. Nothing and no-one will be able to stop us.

What potential do we have for these freedoms?

Ace of Visions

Our potential is so much more than we could ever know. The swan does not see its beauty unless on still water - nor do we see our own beauty unless we are still.

The Swan is a symbol of grace and beauty, strength, ferocity, and faithfulness. These gifts could potentially be granted but only if we are able to release our fear that we don't measure up.

The ugly duckling was constantly compared and so wasn't able to see its true self until someone else came along and chose not to judge.

We have the potential for compassion and kindness, knowing that the journey others are on is not the same as our own.

We could have the potential to see world in a whole new way, filled with wonder, love, beauty, and nobility.

The suit of Visions is the equivalent of the suit of Cups (Spells being Wands, Challenges being Swords, and the absent Boons as Pentacles) in the traditional tarot decks, so to have so much emotion and Water present for all of us could also be a message that this Uranus retrograde is also going to open up our hearts and minds to an entirely new way of living, being, and connecting with others.

I hope this is useful and has prepared you for the next five months. If you'd like a more personalised look at this time, my diary and inbox are open.

Peace and love to all!!!!
