The second, or ritual, meeting of the Spells unit was very interesting because it was in two parts. The first part was sharing the spells we had created after out first meeting as "homework", and the second was gathering a bunch of ideas to create something for the group to do together which I might write about in the future.
The spell I created was related to my desire to have my own witch's garden on my balcony, which I've also been having a lot of messages about recently as well. I did use the spell crafting worksheet from before to help me to organise my thoughts and exactly what I would need for it.
What is the intention/purpose of the spell?
to grow my witch's garden from seeds
to be more in tune with Nature
to discover my own natural flow
to be more in tune with life's cycles
What actions could I take to manifest my spell?
plant seeds
nurture seedlings
move mature seedlings into separate pots
What tools would I need for this?
seeds
soil
empty egg tray
plant pots
watering can
sigil
words from the New Moon ritual for a chant or saying
What elements, energies and allies could support this spell?
Elements: earth element - fairly obvious why; water element - to nourish the soil and the seeds
Ally: the Fae to nurture and bless my little garden area
What timing would best support my spell?
New Moon or Waxing Crescent Moon
Dawn
Sunday or Monday as the start of the week
How will I release this energy/finish the spell?
I wasn't sure about this because it involves growing plants that I can use in my own Craft and when I mentioned this, I was given some really good ideas, as well as something that I hadn't thought about before. My initial idea had been to give thanks when the seedlings had grown big enough to be transplanted into bigger pots. But then it was suggested that I could make an offering of my first harvest as a way of showing gratitude for the assistance of the elements and allies. It was also suggested that this spell will naturally release itself as the plants grow, showing the natural cycle that is all around - this really spoke to me because this spell is a part of my journey of being closer and more at-one and in tune with nature.
This was a really good way for me to get all of my ideas together and make a plan as to what I need. Previously, when I've done spells, I've grabbed things to use and done the spell on the fly but now, I feel better organised and able to prepare for my future spellwork and any potential rituals I may put together.
Spells done on the fly are just as powerful as those you think carefully about before you actually do them but it helps to work with the natural cycles around to make them even stronger. Because of what I've learned during this part of the course, I look forward to standing even more confidently in my power as a Witch but also working with Nature and her cycles far more closely than ever before.
I hope this inspires you on how you want to do your own spells and/or rituals, if you choose to do any.
Peace and love to all!
