New Moon in Sagittarius 2024

Hail and Well Met, you magickal souls!!!!

It's time to think about the New Moon in Sagittarius which will peak around 1st December - remember this is time-zone dependent so it may have happened yesterday (30th November).

The general rule of thumb is that the New Moon is always in the sign of the zodiac season, and Sagittarius season starts on 22nd November and runs through to 21st December. This is the last full zodiac season of the calendar year, as Capricorn straddles that change, and is usually the last full lunar cycle as well.

Sagittarius is represented by an archer, typically a centaur, or just a simple bow and arrow. This is because the energy of Sagittarius is all about releasing the arrows of our intentions, desires and dreams. But it's also about healing, truth and understanding which are associated with the Wounded Healer, Chiron, who is one of the most well-known Greek mythological healers.

This is a mutable fire sign, which means that it happens at the changing of the seasons (as autumn becomes winter) and could be seen to bring the warmth back to the world as Sagittarius season ends with the Winter Solstice, when the days start to grow longer again.

The New Moon in Sagittarius is a great opportunity to look back on the year and reflect one everything. What lessons have you learned? Can you see/tell if you've grown as a person? What have you achieved? What didn't you allow yourself to do and why?

Tis New Moon also gives us the chance to start thinking about the next calendar year, asking questions like: what do we want to achieve within 2025? How do we want it to be different to this year? What could be possible if we felt alive and adventurous?

With some of these questions, especially the ones pertaining to the current calendar year, we might find that we feel regret, ashamed or like we've been tamed too much. But Sagittarius is full of enthusiasm and just wants to take aim, so we can use it as a tool to find a way ahead that is more positive and feels more exciting, where we feel like we can achieve anything because anything is possible.

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet, Jupiter, which is associated with expansion, purpose and possibility. So this New Moon is also about expanding our truth, knowledge and horizons. We have to go to the edge of our comfort zones if we want to truly learn and grow as individuals and as a collective. Jupiter is willing to guide us as we go on an adventure to discover and fulfil our potential.

Based on the energies surrounding this New Moon in Sagittarius, I've crafted a collective spread. I used the Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan to access the wisdom that we most need.

What regret can we learn from right now?

Two of Pentacles

With this card, the regret we can learn from is not balancing ourselves, our time and our lives.

Without balance, we can become too focused on one thing and neglect other things (and people) that need our attention just as much.

Equally, without balance we can try to juggle too much all at once and not give enough time, effort and focus to things/people.

So we need to find a balance so that we can enjoy life while also doing the necessary serious work too, so we can be sociable and stay at home.

This card usually makes me think of the phrase: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." All because Jack focuses on just work and doesn't seem to try to balance his life with hobbies, family and friends, so his life is one-sided.

How can we be more brave and bold?

The Fool, Five of Wands

With The Fool, we can be more brave and bold just by taking a leap of faith. We're at the start of a new journey but rather than having proof that we'll be okay in the end, we need to trust and have faith.

It's interesting that this card has appeared now for the New Moon in Sagittarius because it's all about a new start, a new journey, or a new phase. So the whole newness is a huge theme and not something we should ignore. We may not know or understand this situation but it's important that we are ready to take a leap of faith, to do something new that we might not otherwise do.

With the Five of Wands, the message is that we can be more brave and bold by standing up for ourselves. We can't be small and quiet anymore. If our dreams and desires don't align with what others think we should do, we need to say something and take a stand so that we don't become a "doormat". Some of these battles will be harder than others based on who it is we are up against but this doesn't mean we can't still fight - it just means that there will be further, perhaps deeper, lessons for us to learn at the same time. Other battles will have us feeling like we're outnumbered by opponents but, again, this doesn't mean we can't still be brave and bold by putting up the good fight for our own dreams and desires. Being bold and brave by standing up for ourselves shows others that we are willing for fight for ourselves.

How can we boost our own self-confidence?

Seven of Wands

With this card, we;re being told that we can boost our own self-confidence by just standing up for ourselves.

The things we are defending from others don't have to be big and important (like moving away from close family). They can be smaller.

But sometimes, even standing up for ourselves can be daunting and need more confidence to achieve. If this is the case, we might want to consider standing up for others, developing a community of like-minded people who can then help us to build up the confidence we need to stand up for ourselves.

How we build our confidence doesn't matter; what does matter is that we take actionable steps towards having a greater sense of confidence in our own individual selves.

What adventure do we need to embrace right now?

The Magician, Eight & Nine of Wands

With the Magician, we're being shown that we need to embrace the adventure that allows us to truly learn about the tools we have at our disposal and how they can be employed most effectively for the intention we have. There's also a feeling of: just because some things are available to us doesn't mean we have to use everything all at once. Perhaps the adventure that we need to embrace is learning how to discern which tool would be most appropriate for a larger life adventure. Another element of this card is that we need to embrace the general adventure that encompasses learning at any opportunity that presents itself to us.

With the Eight of Wands, we're being shown that the adventure we need to embrace now is to take aim towards the desires and dreams that we've kept in our hearts. If we don't take aim, we can't possibly hope to potentially achieve them. "Failure" is a part of learning about the methods and tools that work in our favour. By not achieving our goals the first time around, we are being shown what doesn't work and that we need to try something else to achieve our dreams and desires. There's also an element of needing to know exactly what it is that we are aiming for because without a target, we are always set up for failure.

With the Nine of Wands, we are being told that we need to defend our dreams and desires. As they grow and start to become more tangible and real, we cannot let anything or anyone get in our way. If we don't fight for our dreams and desires, no one else will because they will have their own plans for us which may or may not (most likely won't) align with our own values, morals, and dreams and desires. We have to stand tall and ready to defend ourselves, our choices and our desires, no matter if we want to show our own selves that we should achieve them or that we even can. But it's important to be able to discern when we should be defensive because some battles aren't worth our time or energy.

So there's plentywe can learn from and put into action so that we can move into a better future. It's interesting that this New Moon in Sagittarius is wanting us to focus on adventures when it signals the last full lunar cycle of this calendar year. So perhaps this New Moon is preparing us for the adventures that await us in 2025.

I hope this has been informative and helpful ahead of this lunar cycle. If you'd like a more personalised look at how this New Moon in Sagittarius is likely to affect/impact your life, my diary and inbox are open.

Peace and love to all!!!!
