New Moon in Gemini 2024

Writer's picture: AmethystRunewitchAmethystRunewitch

It's time for another New Moon and this one is happening in the sign of Gemini on either Wednesday 5th June 2024 or Thursday 6th June 2024 (depending on which timezone you're in). We're in the zodiac season of Gemini, which is the first Air sign - the other two are Libra and Aquarius. This season is happily ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication.

So we've got a double dose of Gemini energy and the social aspect of Mercury swirling through the air that surrounds us but how can we use it for our highest good both individually and collectively? Well, it's all about getting things done or even just preparing to get things done. Going out, meeting new people, connecting with like-minded people or even those who are open-minded while also holding opposite opinions.

Gemini is all about change, possibly because it's a mutable sign. Mutable describes the four signs that occur when the seasons change, so Gemini is the sign that straddles the end of Spring and the beginning of Summer.

This really is a great time to gain new ideas and inspiration while also following your intuition. New ideas can come from anywhere and anyone so don't ignore or dismiss everything that you think doesn't align with your path and/or purpose. Following your intuition is the same - signs and messages can come from the most unexpected places/people but we have to be open to the possibility of seeing them instead of missing them.

This is the season to discover your soul's purpose, your unique individual message to the world. The Universe, Divine, All-That-Is, God/Goddess, wants to communicate and assist us but it's up to us to listen and pay attention to the signs that we are sent.

Based on all this, I wanted to do a collective reading around this New Moon in Gemini and how we can navigate this time. I found this spread online from Moonandcactus and used the Movie Tarot deck by Diana McMahon Collis.

How can we better unify with our souls' purpose?

The Hermit

With this card, the message seems to be that sometimes we need to withdraw to hear or see the signs directing us to realising our soul's purpose. We live a different life to those of the past, surrounded by technology and this may be what is holding us back; by constantly having a phone, computer or TV in front of us, we are limiting our vision and focus to only what is in front of our faces. At the same time, this also acts as a distraction from what our own inner selves are telling us, stopping us from listening to our gut feelings. We need to let go of everyday, technological and material concerns so that we can seek out higher guidance and actually be able to pay attention to it, too. There is a light being shone that we can follow but we have to be able to see it.

How can we compassionately speak our truth and honour authenticity?

The Fool

With this card, the message is that we each experience life differently, even if certain situations appear to be the same. So while sharing our experiences with others, we can show empathy for those who had similar experiences that affected them in a different way to us. As we start this new lunar month/cycle, we can compassionately speak our truth and allow this action to direct the way forward.

Our truth is ours and no one can take this away from us, no matter how hard they try. Forrest Gump was true to himself and he was never trying to be someone he wasn't. We don't know what is going on or even has gone on in someone else's life so we can only show empathy and hold space for others in our lives. Just because someone is afraid doesn't mean that we can't care.

As we shifted from earthly Taurus to active Gemini, what new energy is rising to the surface?

Knight of Coins, The Magician

With the Knight of Coins, the message is that the new energy is revolutionary, creating movement and change, and expansive. This Knight is depicted as Neo from the Matrix films and this also shows that perhaps the new energy that is building is related to communication and how listening is as important as talking. Another message is that the new energy is relating to changing our perspectives about money and finances; that we need to be able to do what is necessary and realise this in our lives.

With The Magician, the new energy is all about our skills and gifts. The Magician is all about mastering the tools of the Tarot: coins, wands, swords and cups. But it's like the character of Mark Watney said at the end of The Martian: "You solve one problem and you solve the next one. . . If you solve enough problems, you get to come home." This is just what this card is all about if you substitute solving problems with mastering skills and gifts. By mastering these, we can then empathise with others on a deeper level and have better connections/relationships with them. In the film, Mark has to master skills he's unfamiliar with in order to live long enough to get rescued.

How can we best work with this shift in energy and utilise the positive traits of the Twins?

The Empress, Eight of Coins

With The Empress, we can utilise the positive traits of the Gemini Twins through welcoming and embracing others, their cultures, and their life-views. We can either nurture these relationships or dictate them but the first will always be the better option. Because of the nurturing aspect of the Empress and the double-sided nature of the Twins, I feel like we can care for and nurture ourselves as much as we do the same for others; we face the world and care for others, but we need to care for ourselves too.

With the Eight of Coins, we can utilise the positive traits of the Twins by putting in the hard work necessary to achieve the dreams we have. No matter what the goal is, we can always put in the hard work, time and commitment to achieve it. But sometimes, the hard work that needs to be done is internal, within our own selves. We have to work on ourselves if we truly wish to connect and empathise with others on a meaningful level. However, there is something that we don't always realise and understand: that even though we do the hard inner work that we need to, this process doesn't necessarily end. It's a constantly evolving self-project, where we are always improving who we are and how we interact with the wider world. But if we're not interested in this work, then we don't make the most of this energy.

What is our healing guidance under this New Moon in Gemini?

Wheel of Fortune

With this card, the healing guidance is a reminder that when times are difficult, easy times will come. As the Wheel of Fortune turns downwards, so too does it turn upwards. Just as the Wheel of the Year turns towards darkness, it will also turn towards the light. Even if we can't see that better times are coming to us, all we have to do is hang in there. During the darkest times, we can become discouraged but the night is always darkest right before dawn and the return of the light. Nothing lasts forever so we should focus on what is good.

Evolution, whether personal or on a wider scale, isn't linear - it's cyclical, a constantly changing cycle that allows us to learn and implement changes, to adapt to life and the situations we face.

I don't know about you but that is a deep reading. Only two of these cards were not Major Arcana cards, and they were also in the same suit: Coins. I feel like there's another message within these cards, that material things should not be prioritised by any of us over the deeper journey we are making through life.

Even though this is a very deep collective reading, this is only meant to be guidance. Take what resonates and ignore what doesn't. However, if you'd like a more personal look at how the New Moon in Gemini could guide you, please feel free to reach out to me.

Peace and love to all!!!!
