New Moon in Aquarius 2025

Merry Meet and Welcome to you magickal souls!!!!

It's time to think about the New Moon in Aquarius, which is the first New Moon of this calendar year, and it will be most powerful on 29th January although its energies will be felt at least a day either side so if you want to do any magickal workings, there is plenty of time to do them.

Because this is the New Moon, it will happen while the Sun is in the sign of Aquarius between 20th January and 18th February. It is the closest New Moon to Imbolc, the mid-quarter celebration of leaving winter behind and looking towards spring, but I'll write more about Imbolc another day.

There is an abundance of Aquarius energy, so don't worry if you are making decisions that seem "out of character" or rebellious. This can also be a period where we as a collective feel like we are outside of time, like everything is happening while nothing is happening. This is natural because that's how the world feels as it waits for spring and the first signs of life again after winter.

This Aquarius energy brings a dreamy and freedom-seeking quality that is likely to spark inspiration, clarity, new ideas and visions. This will either be an exciting time if you are living in your authentic purpose and truth but if you aren't, then this may be more challenging as you are encouraged to remove anything and/or anyone that is preventing you from growing into your own Self.

The New Moon in Aquarius is a great time to take some time for yourself without rushing into anything. If you start craving alone time, don't be afraid to take it. You are allowed to emotionally reset yourself so that you can sense your way into your own feelings of inner power and strength. It can also help to be open to change and a shift in ways of being as well as doing. This is also a Moon for listening to and feeling your soul's true calling, that whisper beneath all of the shouting needs and wants of the ego and mind. So if you are listening for our soul's calling, then you should be able to get into alignment with your purpose. You can realise what you offer to the world by making a list of every gift and talent you have, every passion and desire, and the things that truly make you light up from within.

So, let's see what it is that we can do and/or realise as a collective to navigate this in-between time. I used the Druid Animal Oracle deck by Philip & Stephanie Carr-Gomm with a spread I created.

What wants to begin to grow in our lives?

Hind Reversed

With this card, the message is that there are new beginnings waiting but now may not be the right time for that growth.

Aquarius energy doesn't care what happens and asserts its will as it pleases. This is what needs to grow within our lives: assertiveness so that we can live the life we want instead of the life others think we should live.

As we exit the season of winter, we may be preoccupied with spirits, inner mysteries, and the Otherworld. But we need to remember that everyday life is just as important so we need to grow a balance between the two.

Even if we feel we lose our way, the Hind will always be waiting to guide us deeper within our own selves.

What is stirring within us right now?

Crane

Crane comes to say that patience, perseverance, concentration and focus are stirring within us. Just as the Crane itself waits, standing for long hours waiting to dart at its desire. That's the energy that is stirring and waking now.

At this time of transition, from one season to the next, Crane comes to guide us through it, to show us what we can leave behind and what already lies within us.

Crane also stands at the edge of the Underworld, the decorated cave that sits in the background of this card. But rather than the Underworld meaning death, here it represents magick and the arcane sciences or secret knowledge that we can only hope to understand by learning the language and signs of Nature.

How can we align with our purpose to energise this growth?

Earth Dragon Reversed

The Earth Dragon comes to tell us that we can align with our purpose by not reaching into our inner reserves and potential too much and for the wrong reasons.

This Dragon fiercely guards the treasures hidden within our souls but sometimes we forget that we don't have to share everything all at once with everyone we meet along our path through life.

If we have been trying to force this situation, this Earth Dragon is likely to have fought back and shown us that this is not right.

It's time for us to befriend this Dragon so that we can know when to share what with whom.

How can we embrace this "outside of time" feeling?

Seal

The Seal itself is "outside of time", especially with its song. So perhaps music is how we can embrace and come through this feeling.

The type of music we listen to will be different for each individual but it should call to our souls, something that stirs the heart, that calls to us from the depths.

This particular feeling may be frightening and fill us with fear but the Seal is not fearful of the water, the element that embodies our emotions, so we shouldn't be either.

We can embrace this feeling as well by not letting our heads rule our hearts, and by opening up to those "scary" emotions that we might prefer to deny.

It seems that the Aquarius symbol of the "water-bearer" relates more than the rebellious side. So we need to work with our emotions rather than trying to control them or hide them away. The Otherworld, the Underworld, and those hidden places within us are all vying for attention but balancing our watery emotions with intellectual air will help us to move forward from winter towards spring.
