The next Chakra is the Heart. This is the fourth of the seven main Chakras that I'm interested in, although I know there are those who believe there are more "minor" chakras that could be worked with.
The Heart Chakra is found in the middle of the chest, in the same area where our actual heart sits. It's usually represented by a lotus that has 12 petals and has the Sanskrit name of Anahata which means Unstruck. The energy of this Chakra is Green as it is associated with unconditional love, for others as well as for our own selves. With unconditional love comes the conscious knowledge that everyone and everything is interconnected and the idea that this knowledge will bring a greater sense of inner peace and wellbeing.
Because of the Heart Chakra's association with unconditional love, there's an association with taking responsibility for our actions before we can express love within the motivating factors being our own needs, fears and desires. This Chakra relates to a conscious decision to act with love, but the kind of love that doesn't require anyone to change in order to be worthy of receiving it.
When this Chakra's energy is fully integrated within, only then can the recognition that holding onto hurts and grievances benefits no one; instead, this act hurts us more than anything. The practice of forgiveness - which is not the same as allowing that same action to be repeated over and over and over again, it's personal permission to move forward without this burden - becomes a part of daily life.
By balancing the Heart Chakra, we can give and receive unconditional love because our actions are built on the foundation that ALL people are deserving of love.
When working with the energy of the Heart Chakra, the following crystals will be helpful: Rose Quartz, Aventurine, Diamond, Jade, Chrysoprase, Peridot, Watermelon Tourmaline, Rhodochrosite, and Clear Quartz. You could also keep one or more of these crystals near to you when you need to alleviate your fears and open your heart to love and truth.
Other assocations for the Heart Chakra are:
Essential Oils - Rose, Carnation, Lily of the Valley
Plants - Foxglove, Rose, Carnation, Lily
Metals - Copper, Gold
Planets - Venus, Sun
Astrology - Libra, Taurus
Knowing all of this about the Heart Chakra, I've come to realise that I've been working on improving my connection without realising it. Self-love has been a huge focus for me in recent years and I know that working on it has had a positive impact on relationships in general within my life. It seems that everything I have been doing in my spiritual journey has had something to do with a Chakra at some point or another.
When it comes to unity and connection between all things, I have always held a deep love of Nature and the creatures who share my small corner of the world. I marvel and enjoy to see certain birds in flight - one bird in particular that I have loved since I was young. I love to share the tidbits of knowledge that I have collected over the years because by doing so, I am helping to educate others who may share that knowledge themselves. I also know that my feline companions/familiars are connected to me - one likes to be with me when I craft a spell while the other prefers when I practice my divination skills (especially runes), but one or both know when I am not feeling so great and they sit with or on me to help me to heal.
Peace is associated with the Heart Chakra through love and forgiveness. I have experienced true peace in a very few places I have actually visited but they stand out to me for a variety of reasons. But I also experience peace through writing, singing along to songs or just listening to music. At one point in my life, I thought I would never experience peace but, contrary to what some believe, it isn't as elusive as it is made out to be. I have accepted and love who and what I am which give me inner peace; I no longer care about the opinions others may have for how I live my life because I no longer need anyone's approval and I am happy. If anything disturbs my peace, I have given myself permission to deal with the disruption or remove it completely.
Joy is another association for the Heart Chakra and this is present in my life almost daily. My cats tend to provide one aspect of this for me as I love to watch what they do individually and together - I marvel when one falls asleep on me and starts to dream and twitch, or when one has a bout of the "zoomies" which usually sets the other one off and then it's even more enjoyable to watch. I enjoy food and love to cook, whether it's comfort food (like soups, frozen pizza, chicken korma or a chinese-style curry) or a "special" meal (like a roast dinner with gammon or spaghetti bolognese). With two cats as my only companions, I tend to leave the more elaborate dishes for special occasions - typically revolving around the Wheel of the Year - but I still ensure that I enjoy what I am eating.
So that's my journey with my own Heart Chakra and I hope this inspires you to consider working to strengthen yours and come to understand various aspects of life that are connected to it.
Peace and love to all!!!!
