Merry Meet and Welcome you magickal souls!!!!
It's time for the next Full Moon, which is actually the last Full Moon of 2024. This Full Moon will occur in the sign of Gemini as it is the opposite sign to Sagittarius, and it will reach its peak energy around 14th or 15th December - remember that this is time-zone dependent.
Gemini is ruled by Mercury and is strongly connected to communication, as shown by the sign's symbol of the twins. So there is likely to be a lot of information flying around, and it could come in a variety of forms.
We may be more curious than usual, asking questions of anyone and about anything, and this may be due to feeling confused but without knowing why. The same might be true about feeling unsettled and as a result being restless and unable to sit still. All of this energy, or even just some of it, may mean we feel more anxious and that our internal dialogue with ourselves increases. This could be a good thing if we use this as a self-enquiry and not our own form of punishment.
However, the Gemini twins can also be a mirror that we hold up to our own selves so that we are reflected back, giving the illusion of twins. In which case, this Full Moon is an opportunity for us to look at our own selves, fears and self-limiting beliefs. If we keep getting stuck in the same patterns and/or situations, we will have the chance to bring a new way of viewing everything (situations, other people and ourselves). This can only be helpful if we want to realise how we can do things differently to get a different result.
But, as stated before, this Full Moon occurs during Sagittarius season so the enegry of Sagittarius is also present. This energy is all about us being free spirits, independent, and on an eternal quest for knowledge, but this is all likely to be heightened - maybe even amplified - by the Full Moon energy.
However, both Sagittarius and Gemini energies can be used in a productive way that allws us to really find clarity, especially when it comes to knowledge of our own selves. This Full Moon is also likely to allows us to review our old ways of doing things so that we can start the next calendar year off with knowledge that we can use to make the future more positive. Neither Sagittarius or Gemini like to dwell in the past so use this Full Moon to wipe the slate clean.
With all of this energy, I thought we as a collective community could use some wisdom and I did a reading using a collection of cards by Maia Toll that comes with her Herbiary, Crystallary and Bestiary books. This deck was also chosen by my feline companion, Luna.
What area should we focus on at this time?
Screech Owl - Get Creative
With the Screech Owl, we're being asked how creative we actually are. Or have we developed the habit of following what others do without thinking for ourselves?
Where has our creativity gone? Why can't we be more independent of others and see where we can be more creative?
We can hide ourselves in a crowd but we still have to be able and willing to stand up as our authentic selves.
Creativity has many forms: cooking, writing, drawing, painting, crochet, knitting, embroidery, and many more. But which are we called to use? Which are we talented at? If we spend time on perfecting those skills, our creativity increases.
What truth about our Selves do we need to face (in a mirror)?
Nettle - Pay Attention!
Nettle is watching us as we approach the Mirror of Truth. Nettle is also asking us whether we are generalising everything or if we can identify what is around us. Even if we can't name it ourselves, we should be able to acknowledge the individuality of each circumstance, each person, plant and/or animal we encounter. If we can't do this, then Nettle is wanting us to do better and start paying attention to what is around us.
As much as we look around us, do we see what others ignore? Do we try to help the people and animals that others walk past? Do we see them as individuals or as part of the background vista?
How can we free ourselves of this limiting truth?
Lady's Mantle - Fortitude
Fortitude is having courage in the face of pain or adversity. It can be painful to face the truth but the truth hurts far less than denial and lies.
But if we are strong and listen to Lady's Mantle's advice, then as She tells us, "We can make it through this lifetime. Our souls are whole, and matter what the physical world throws at us, we have integrity of spirit."
We have to face the limiting truth highlighted by Nettle if we want to become free of it. Only by facing it can we understand it and know what to do to find the freedom we perhaps didn't know we needed or wanted.
How will our lives be impacted if we can become free from that truth?
Elderberry - Cyclicality
Elderberry is saying that our lives will be more connected to the natural cycles that form our day-to-day routines and even our yearly ones.
This plant is all about cycles and the Triple Goddess: in the Spring, Elderberry embodies the Maiden with an abundance of white petals; in the Summer, the Mother is embodied with an adornment of wine-red fruits; and in the Autumn (and Winter), the Crone is embodied with the falling away of leaves and then bare branches.
The seasons we experience throughout the year, the phases of the Moon, and even the cycle within a day will all hold more importance and wisdom for our lives.
Putting the wisdom of all four of these cards together, we need to rediscover our creativity, pay attention to everyone and everything around us, and face the truth with strength and fortitude. All so that we can reconnect with the natural cycles that we experience in all areas of our lives, Cycles can give us hope as spring always follows winter and dawn follows the night, meaning that new beginnings are always possible.
Reconnecting with the cycles is something that I personally believe is really important as we have lost connection with these natural cycles as technology and how we live our lives has evolved. The Moon has become a pretty sight in the night sky, while the seasons just happen (and we then moan about them). Our foods are no longer seasonal with the ability to freeze foods for another time but also with how greenhouses are utilised to grow a lot of foods all year round.
